About Us

Lazaro Fernandez Jr. emigrated from Cuba in 1963, and grew up in McAllen, Texas. After graduating from North Texas State in 1982 he joined the family fabric business and gave life to the Fernandez Design Group.

The Fernandez Design Group, which includes Novel Fabrics and Interior Trade Cartel, both major distributors of fabrics in the U.S., Mexico, and South America, expanded their horizons with the addition of European Custom Lighting and Furnishing in 2008, offering the finest lighting pieces.

As of 2020, European Custom Lighting and Furnishing additionally provides quality fine furniture to complete customer home needs, offering styles ranging from modern and transitional to rustic and traditional.
